So I went to write the date today and realized we were already half way though May...couldn't believe it!! Also, I realized I am not a great blogger yet, promise to work on it!
The last two weeks have been good. One great thing is that my sister has come home from college, I am soooo happy to have her home, it is fun to have another person to call on to do things with. She has already spent the night at our place twice, one time mom came with her to eat dinner. We made chicken Marsala with potatoes and asparagus for Em's homecoming meal, it was really easy and very good! I used a Publix Aprons recipe, I used chicken cutlets instead of breasts and I think that made a big difference. The next day was my day off and Ell and I took em to the Flying Biscuit for breakfast...always a hit. Then we introduced her to Atlantic Station...which may have been a mistake, I thought I would never get her out of H&M! It was a fun time and I guess we showed her a good time because two nights later she was back. We took her to Virginia Highlands and sat out on the patio of this neighborhood bar for a few hours, they had music and it was a beautiful night, it was so fun.
Back tracking a little...the first week of May is always a little crazy, the 2nd is my brother-in-law Alex's birthday, they had a big low country boil to celebrate, it was delicious and a really fun night. Then on the 3rd is my brother Josh's birthday, I can't believe he is 17! I am enjoying him growing up, its fun to hang out with him as a peer now. Then the 7th is my dad's and Emily Dickens' birthdays. I wish I could have spent the day with Em, but that night we had a party for Mary Margaret (my mother-in-law) because she is retiring. Carrie was at the party and we made sure that we celebrated Emily the right way! We also played an epic kickball game...and if I do say so myself, Carrie and I were MVPs. It was awesome. But then the next morning, we left for South Carolina for my dad's 50th birthday party. We had a really good time, their house is really cute and it was fun to get to see my grandparents and step-family. THEN we drove back home Sunday morning for a mother's day extravaganza. We went to a park for a picnic with Elliott's family and then celebrated with yummy Bruster's cake with mom...we were pretty worn out!
Elliott and I have been working on getting the rest of our apartment set up. Elliott has been amazing. He has painted and the house is always so clean when I get home, it is so nice to just be able to relax after work. We have also decided to really be more conscientious about what we eat. We have tried all sorts of new things, we have been eating a ton of fruits and veggies and lean meats. We are having fun doing new things in the kitchen. I also have tried out some farmers markets AND discovered Trader Joe's. There is one right around the corner I really like it! They have a lot of fun new inspirational things. I will keep you updated with how it goes.
We are really enjoying exploring our new area. One of the best ways to figure it out has been running. You can really see so much that way, and clearly its much slower than driving so you can see everything! We have tried out several restaurants and bars in the area and have pretty much liked them all so far. Dan and Mary Margaret came down on Saturday and took us out to eat, it was so nice!
On Thursday afternoon, we will leave for Anna and Tony's wedding in Kentucky, I am really looking forward to it, I think it will definitely be a good time...I will post pictures from the past month when I get home today, and will be sure to post after the wedding too!

Taking the Plunge
So I have always assumed that people who were bloggers probably had super thrilling lives and therefore something super thrilling to write about. But after reading my friends blogs, I realized they were just writing about their everyday lives, and I found it very interesting! I love feeling connected to them although some are as far away as Miami! And I also think it will be a great way to keep a record of our first few years of marriage. SO, I am giving in; taking the plunge; I am blogging!
Although I don't expect a huge audience (and for whatever audience I do have, please don't expect too much excitement, and excuse my misspelling) I am looking forward to it.
I will post a recap of the past few months maybe later today, but my lunch break is over now. I am going to leave you with a picture of Maxie in our new apartment. She has befriended this pink beanie baby cat I have named Butterbean...I am not sure if Butterbean is as big of a fan of the friendship, but Max carries her around everywhere and takes her to bed, it is pretty funny.
One final disclosure for those planning to read my blog...I really like our cat and will likely post pictures of her regularly. Deal with it Carrie (: xoxo
